Dan Jagoditsh Wins Mid Season Championship

July 9th at Big Country Speedway marked the Mid Season point and Champions were determined.

It has been a tough and challenging season thus far for #25 Dan Jagoditsh in his Grand American Modified (GAM).  The season began with  blowing an engine opening weekend at Colorado National Speedway, causing the rear end of the car to lock up, spinning him and backing hard into the wall.  Extensive frame and body damage means an almost complete rebuild of the car.

Then on mid season night  at Big Country Speedway! his transmission breaks in the Heat Race scratching the car for the Main.

Up to that point the night had been going pretty well.  Qualified in 2nd Place followed by a hard fought win in the Dash.

With the car scratched for the Main and a Mid Season Championship on the line with only a 20 point spread between Dan and  Sam Calvetti Dan's options were to give up or fight for the win.

 Rule 11.1.1 states..

1.11.1 USE OF ANOTHER CAR You may use another car if your car is scratched before the event

After discussions with track officials fellow BCS drivers prove once again prove to be generous and helpful.  Dan is offered his pick of three different cars to start the Main in.  Tommy Gess offers his Warrior, Chris Luzmoor offers his GAM and Bill Wallace offered his Super Stock.   The best choice for Dan would have been to climb in Chris Luzmoor's GAM and have a chance at not only being able to start the race earning enough points to secure the Mid Season Championship but also to race for the Main Event Win.  Dan though chose to take Bill Wallace up on his offer of using his Super Stock, not wanting to take away Chris' own opportunity to compete.

1.11.4 SUBSTITUTE CAR STARTING POSITION Substitute cars will be required to start the back of the pack.

They line up for the Main Event, Dan starting in the back per the above rule.  The plan is for Dan to take the green flag, run one lap and then pull off.  Starting the race would earn him enough points to win the mid season championship.  The field of cars takes the green, one lap complete....Dan doesn't pull off.  He is hanging with the field enough that he keeps going for one more.  That race car driver just cant resist...

After another lap Dan pulls off not, being in a lower class car that isn't as fast he doesn't want to interfere with the race for the other drivers.

Dan ends the night with a broken transmission but also another Mid Season Championship to add to his list.  Dan has earned 2nd Place 2015 Season, Super Stock Track Champion 2013 AND  2014 as well as Mid Season Super Stock Champion 2014.
